Episode 97 - Ric Charlesworth


My special guest is Dr Ric Charlesworth. Ric is a legend of Australian Hockey as both a player and coach. His career included 227 games as a player for Australia going to 4 Olympics and winning a silver medal. He would also captain his country. His illustrious coaching career included coaching both the men’s and women’s national teams. He led the women’s team to two Olympic gold medals in 1996 & 2000, World Cup’s in 1994 and 1998 and Champion’s Trophy wins in 93, 95, 99 and 99 with this period of time regarded as one of the most dominate teams in sporting history. Ric would also lead the men’s team successfully for a period of time. He was a multi-sport athlete having played and captained W.A in State Cricket while he was a Federal member of Parliament for 10 years and is a Doctor of Medicine.
